During the 50�s, girls and young women wore small silk squares tied under the collar of white blouses.
They were made in pleated and un-pleated versions of many colors and prints.

The �sweater girl� look was popular among college women. It was worn with long, straight skirts. The three
coeds on the left have three variations of the basic sweater, while the one on the right has a patterned
and belted style. A very short hair style, similar o the 1920�s �shingle cut,� was known as a �duck tail cut.�
