Stevens Point Normal Domestic Science Overview
 he biggest event brought in the decade, that is the 1940 reinstatement
of Home Economics as a major. While enrollments did not grow a lot after the good news, it did not slip much
either. Enrollment in all of the University was down due to the war effort and the home economics majors
volunteered in many areas. Toward the end of the decade Bessie May Allen allowed several husbands to live in
the home management house with their home economics wives, a first in the country.
