Grammars Primaries High Schools Tie For Second. Rurals Last
n a tight game with the High School department, the Home Economics won the
championship of the girls basketball league. The Home Ecs were ahead throughout the game, but were
followed closely by the High Schools. The game was exciting from start to finish, as was the
Grammar-Primary game which ended with the Hash Slingers only two points ahead of the Smith protges, the
score being 5-7. The preceding games were good, bad or indifferent. From the standpoint of mens
basketball, the girls games were fast but loose. Holding, charging, blocking, over guarding and similar
fouls which would not be permitted in the mens games, were allowed to run riot. If they had been held to
the narrow margin of mens rules, the girls games would have been a total loss. As it was, however, the
players put on a fine exhibition of basketball, notwithstanding the hair-pulling and rough work.
Three Teams Tie
he second place is divided equally between the High Schools, the Grammars and the Primaries. The Rurals and
the Home Ecs are tail and head, respectively, with four losses and four wins. The other three teams each won
two and lost two games. As was generally predicted, the Home Ecs were the class of the tournament, with an
unbeatable squad. Their guarding was consistent, their offense good and their players well coached and of no
mean ability. They were threatened only by the Primaries, who held them to a 10-11 score. Those playing
during the tournament for the winning team are: Shoaf, Lord, Anderson, Lohr, Timme, Losby, Sheasly, Ascott,
and Wright. The scores of the games, in order are: Rurals 14-H. Ec 58; Primary 26-H. S. 7; Grammars
31-Rurals 8; H. Ec 11-Primary 10; Rurals 6-H. S. 18; H. Ec 14-Grammars 10; Grammar 7-H. S. 12; Rurals
6-Primary 16; H. Ec 17-H. S. 9; Grammar 21-Primary 16.
